Why don't the monsters move?

In the first versions of the game they did. We decided later to remove it. It was a gameplay decision. Some players like it other do not. In laby monsters only block the way to the exit as its supposed to be a 'tactical-roquelike'

Why is it impossible to get stolen items back?

Remember this is an abstract roquelike. We know it would make sense to just kill the thief and then pickup the stolen items. BUT it would make stealing senseless! Because the thieves are very weak and everybody can kill them! So it will NEVER be possible to get stolen items back!

How does armour work?

Various equipment, magic and effects can increase armour. Armour absorbs Physical damage before your health is damaged. It acts like an additional pool of health that regenerates every turn (based on your Armour Regeneration statistic). This means you can rest a few turns between combat to recover your armour, but be aware of your hunger and thirst!

Is it possible to get new traits in the game?

No its not! Thats one of the traditions of this game. The game is meant to last only very short not like other roquelikes where you play the same character forever. We want you to create a new character with different traits every time you play. So to see all the traits you have to try around with them. Thats all Lost Labyrinth is living from ... Combinations ...

What are the staff pieces good for?

When you collect all 7 parts of the staff of the last covenant you finish the game alive! You can enter your name in the highscore as usual but get a sign that you survived! The other way to finish the game is by completing level 150.

What are the differences between the new and older versions of the game?

There are three versions of Lost Labyrinth:

  • Lost Labyrinth Classic
  • Lost Labyrinth (Extended Edition)
  • Lost Labyrinth DX

The classic one is written in blitzbasic which is not developed anymore. It was later rewritten in PureBasic and sold as Extended Edition (with additional content such as new traits, monsters and spells). The newest version (Lost Labyrinth DX) has a completely rewritten game engine in C++ with SDL2 as backend. This allows for better portability, maintenance and tooling for further development. Lost Labyrinth DX features everything from the older version and adds new stuff while trying to keep the same traditions as the previous games.
